The debut song for YG Entertainment’s new girl group will be produced by head Yang Hyun Suk’s right-hand man, Teddy.
YG officially announced that the girl group would be debuting this July but had not revealed any other information regarding the group structure, concept, nor the debut song.
The music industry as well as fans are waiting in anticipation for the group as it is the first girl group from the company since launching 2NE1 seven years ago.
YG will finally be unveiling the girl group members starting this week, with one member being revealed each week.
Also, although the concept for the new girl group will have YG’s distinct “girl crush” feel to it, it is expected to be a bit differentiated from 2NE1.
Head of YG Entertainment Yang Hyun Suk commented on the new girl group, “I can vouch for their skills since they have been training for a long time. We trained them using the airborne troops method,” and, “They have a unique feel to them, enough that they don’t feel like the ‘second 2NE1.’ Because this is the first girl group in seven years [after 2NE1], I feel a bit burdened but I am also confident.”
Kim Jisoo (age: 21) and Jennie Kim (age: 20) have reportedly been confirmed as members of YG Entertainment’s new girl group.
After announcing that it would debut, in July, its first girl group in seven years since 2NE1, YG has officially denied likely candidates Jang Hana and Moon Suaof SBS’s “K-Pop Star 3″ and Mnet’s “Unpretty Rapstar 2″ fame, respectively, as members of the group.
Kim Jisoo and Jennie Kim have been mentioned as strong candidates for the group since 2012 but, with the delay in their debut, it became questionable whether even these two would join the group.
Unlike Jang Hana and Moon Sua, YG had not confirmed nor denied Kim Jisoo and Jennie Kim’s participation in the group up to this point. According to Star News’s reports, however, the two seem to be confirmed as final members.
Kim Jisoo is a rising star boasting, not only pretty features, but also impressive dancing and singing abilities. She has received attention in the past for her participation in Epik High’s “Spoiler” music video and a cameo in KBS2′s drama “Producer.”
Jennie Kim, who also boasts exceptional beauty, has participated in the music video for BIGBANG’s G-Dragon’s solo track, “That XX,” as the female protagonist. She is also known to be proficient in Korean, English, and Japanese as well.
A high-ranking YG affiliate recently revealed to Star News that “new faces will form the majority of the new YG girl group,” raising questions regarding who the other members might be.
